Thanksgiving weekend session

We had a great session on Friday. These guys came up from Windsor and braved the cold. It was 45 when we started but as we lost light, the temps dipped. Kent and I were moving around a lot so the cold didn't seem to bad but it was miserable for them. They were troopers though and toughed it out. So, despite the cold, the icy ground and a fox sighting that kind of freaked me out, it was a great session. Thanks guys - Awesome ends with.... you!

Lasting love

Kent had the honor of photographing these two while they were visiting Colorado this past week. They have been married for 60+ years and are very kind, loving people. I admire their lasting love for each other and was very pleased to get such nice photos of the two of them together.

Off topic a bit, we are still accepting fall family sessions and are looking for fun, funky families to photograph in traditional or urban settings. Contact us soon to book your session and please spread the word about us.

New locations & Christmas photos

We are always on the look out for new locations and happened to stumble on a few fun spots today. These places had great color and texture and I can't wait to go back!

Can you guess where we'll be doing our Christmas card photos this year?

Yep, I'm in love with this red wall and the ideas are already flowing. And, speaking of Christmas cards, there is still time to get in a session before the snow flies. We always prefer to do full session and spend time with our clients but if all you want is a nice photo (or maybe even something quirky) for a card, give us a call we'll work with you on customizing a session to fit your needs.

forgot one

This one got left out from a previous post but I LOVE it so I wanted to share - Enjoy!

Saturday's Morning session

We already shared one of the family grouping from our Saturday morning session on a previous post but here are a few more.

And I love these head shots of the kids. I serious had a really hard time picking favorites because pretty much every picture of these cuties turned out great.

And just for fun we ended with this spontaneous shot of the boys.

Thanks go to the Walkers for spending a few hours with us.

Saturday's afternoon session

We had two great sessions on Saturday and I'm still working away on proofs and edits but couldn't help wanting to share a few of my favorites from the afternoon session.

Sometimes Kent and I just hold our breath and shoot. We hope for the best when the conditions around us aren't ideal. We were battling harsh light, then no light, and mixed in we had some gusty winds but it all worked out and luckily Kent worked his magic behind the lens we got some great photos.

Aren't these just the most photogenic kids you've ever seen?
Cute and easy to work with!

Thanks guys for a great session!

Oh, and be sure to check back soon as we will be posting some of our favorite shots from our upcoming weekend sessions.

Be safe and Happy Halloween,

Our Miss M

Being a photographer can sometimes be torture on our kids. They roll their eyes when the camera comes out. And, I'm not going to lie, my kids complain about getting family pictures taken just as much as other kids do, if not more. The work around is to shoot individuals without their siblings around. And that is just what we did for these photos of our daughter.

As a photographer, I love them. As a parent I adore them. This is 100% percent her at this stage in her life and I'm so glad it's documented so we can always remember.

The Lowe's

Sometimes I think photographing your friends is cheating. But really, photography is about connections so knowing your subject just makes it all that much better (and easier). Plus, how can you not have a good time and smile when you are sharing Nacho Libre quotes the whole time. Love you guys! Thanks for letting us take your photos.

Their shoot was a pretty good sample of what a typical family session is, we do groupings but always like to get some individual shots too. Plus, of course, we never pass up the zany shots.

Brett & Shandra

We LOVE doing engagement shots. They are so fun and they bring back so many good memories. Brett and Shandra contacted us and they had a little different deal than normal. They wanted engagements shots and family photos - it was a two-fer! Perfect! They were getting married and while they wanted pictures of just the two of the them, they also wanted to include Shandra's little girl too. After all, they were soon to be a forever family and wanted to document it right from the get-go. It was great and here's just a few of our favorites from our time with them.

I love the fall colors and I adore this little girl - she totally knew how to work the magic for the camera and if we weren't losing light, we would have kept shooting this cute little family. Thanks guys! We thought it was a great session.

Mr Cute!

Seriously! I don't even need to say anything about these photos... well, okay, maybe just one thing - CUTE!!! He was such a great photo subject, so smiley.

40th Wedding Anniversary

40th wedding anniversaries are not very common and I'm always impressed when I hear about people celebrating them. This couple made it to that milestone and their kids, all 9 of them, pulled together a wonderful weekend celebration where they honored their parents. Honestly, it was very moving to see how their family interacted with each other and how much they loved their parents, and really, how much their parents loved each other. It was heart-warming and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

High School Senior

Our high school senior sessions usually involve clothing changes and props. Lots of primping and make up touch-ups. Yet, they are some of my favorite shoots. The kids enjoy the fact that it's all about them. They aren't sharing the spotlight with siblings and it's a right of passage so to speak. I know that's how I felt many years ago when I had mine done and I'm pretty sure this is how she felt too. Isn't she beautiful?!

Smile? I think not.

This little guy has so much personality and I think we were able to capture some of it in these shots. However, no matter how hard we tried he would not give us the full, toothless smile we were after. It's almost like you can see the determination to not smile in his eyes. The pressed lip smirk (which is adorable) is the most he was willing to give. Such a cutie!

Fort Collins, CO

We're picking up NO where near where we left off!

Our last photo session was in Maine, in the village of Camden. It was actually of us. Is that cheating? We wanted one more family photo to document life in Maine before we left. And, it was a sad departure. We will miss the beauties of the Maine coast and the friends we made there.

But now, now we are onto a new adventure. We're planting roots and setting up shop in Fort Collins, Co. Our sessions and pricing will remain the same (see above tab for session details) so please spread the word - we're open for business!

Smiles,
Kent & Amy
