Typical session

As mentioned in my last post, I've been working on editing a recent session. It's finally done!

So, while I have these examples ready to share, I thought I'd also address one of the questions we get asked most about our sessions.

What is included in a session?

A typical family session includes different family groupings and poses, some standing, sitting, walking, standing on your head - well, maybe not that - but you get the idea. We'll move you around, set up a few different poses to make sure that you have some options.

Then we do breakdowns.

These are usually your choice but we will make suggestions. You want just the kids together? Great! We'll do that. Again, just like the family group, we will usually do a couple different posses of each breakdown - it's all about giving you lots of options.

Plus, we like to do individual shots too. (way better than those quick school shots, right?!)

Even pets can be included - (Unless they are snakes! I have issues with snakes and Kent might have to shoot that session alone)

So there you have it. We keep our pricing simple, no packages, just a session fee. You get a set of edited proofs and a disc with all your edit images. That way you can print and make enlargements to your hearts content!

As for location, we can pick a spot or you can - we're flexible!

Enjoy! And let us know if you have any questions.

The Lowe's

Sometimes I think photographing your friends is cheating. But really, photography is about connections so knowing your subject just makes it all that much better (and easier). Plus, how can you not have a good time and smile when you are sharing Nacho Libre quotes the whole time. Love you guys! Thanks for letting us take your photos.

Their shoot was a pretty good sample of what a typical family session is, we do groupings but always like to get some individual shots too. Plus, of course, we never pass up the zany shots.

Brett & Shandra

We LOVE doing engagement shots. They are so fun and they bring back so many good memories. Brett and Shandra contacted us and they had a little different deal than normal. They wanted engagements shots and family photos - it was a two-fer! Perfect! They were getting married and while they wanted pictures of just the two of the them, they also wanted to include Shandra's little girl too. After all, they were soon to be a forever family and wanted to document it right from the get-go. It was great and here's just a few of our favorites from our time with them.

I love the fall colors and I adore this little girl - she totally knew how to work the magic for the camera and if we weren't losing light, we would have kept shooting this cute little family. Thanks guys! We thought it was a great session.

40th Wedding Anniversary

40th wedding anniversaries are not very common and I'm always impressed when I hear about people celebrating them. This couple made it to that milestone and their kids, all 9 of them, pulled together a wonderful weekend celebration where they honored their parents. Honestly, it was very moving to see how their family interacted with each other and how much they loved their parents, and really, how much their parents loved each other. It was heart-warming and we were thrilled to be a part of it.

Fort Collins, CO

We're picking up NO where near where we left off!

Our last photo session was in Maine, in the village of Camden. It was actually of us. Is that cheating? We wanted one more family photo to document life in Maine before we left. And, it was a sad departure. We will miss the beauties of the Maine coast and the friends we made there.

But now, now we are onto a new adventure. We're planting roots and setting up shop in Fort Collins, Co. Our sessions and pricing will remain the same (see above tab for session details) so please spread the word - we're open for business!

Smiles,
Kent & Amy

Getting the perfect shot

I've been doing some file shuffling and found these from a shoot this summer. This first shot is the kind that always gets me. I know from my own experience (and from talking to clients) that so much goes into getting ready for family photos.

We stress about clothing choices, hairstyles, make-up. We beg the kids to not play in the dirt and bribe them to stay clean and wrinkle free. Picture-perfect, you know.

Then it's time for the shot and this happens....

Drool!

While it's not picture-perfect, on a baby it adds character and on this one, it's absolutely adorable. (click on the photo to see it larger)

We had a great shoot this weekend. I gave you a sneak peak of one of their photos in the previous post but here are some of my other favorites.

Aren't these little guys the cutest?

Thanks guys for the great shoot!

P.S. The car pictures are coming, watch for them soon.

This was from earlier this summer, I'm big on mother-daughter (or parent-child) photos so it was great to shoot these two
